Flying triangles may be 'stealth
blimps' A UFO research institute say large triangular objects seen over the US and Europe could be military stealth airships. The US National Institute for Discovery Science studied a sighting by more than a dozen witnesses, including police officers. A senior university expert in aerospace engineering at Wichita State University in Kansas agrees with many of the group's findings. NIDS believes the giant blimps are designed to be radar invisible, carry massive payloads and travel at relatively high speeds. The NIDS claims the US military may be using a silent electrokinetic drive which powers it without the need for propellers. Colm Kelleher, the institute's deputy administrator, said: "What we're trying to do is transform UFOs into IFOs, or identified flying objects. "Our information is that they spend a long time aloft, weeks at a time. They can be thought of as ocean-going ships rather than aircraft." L Scott Miller, professor of Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University in Kansas, agrees with many of the findings, but thinks conventional propeller power is more likely. He told Space.com: "I do think that a large airship, with a heavy lift and other mission objectives, has been built." He added: "A stealth blimp would be feasible in this respect." Last year, another NIDS report linked the sightings with flight paths to and from military bases in the US. |
